About the Platform

Why we built this

The KMC IGR platform digitises tenement rate assessment and collection for Kano Municipal Council — replacing paper demand notices and manual receipts with a system residents can check and pay from their phone.

  • Demand notices calculated automatically at the approved rate
  • Pay online, or in person through an authorised collector
  • Instant SMS confirmation and a QR-verifiable receipt for every payment
Legal Basis

The power of the Local Government or Area Council to collect tenement rate and other revenue is derived from Section 7(5) and paragraph 1(f) of the Fourth Schedule to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Taxes and Levies (Approved List for Collection) Act, and the applicable Tenement Rate Laws and Bye-Laws of Kano State and its Local Government/Area Council authorities.
